Methodology

How we choose the payment partners on this platform

Find Payment Partner is a curated intelligence platform, not an exhaustive register. Today the dataset covers 200 licensed payment partners across 12 countries. Here is exactly how we select them, where the information comes from, and how any provider can be added.

Written and maintained by Andréas HobbelinFounder, Find Payment Partner — AML & Financial Crime Prevention expert.

Curated, not exhaustive

Each country lists providers prioritised by regulatory licence, cross-border relevance and partnership signal. We deliberately exclude domestic-only acquirers and providers without a discoverable licence.

Authoritative data sources

EBA EUCLID, FCA, FinCEN MSB, national regulators, public filings, provider-submitted data and Ai Risk Intelligence analyst reviews. Every profile lists the verification level used.

Four verification levels

Unverified · Public Data · Partner Submitted · Provider Verified. The level reflects how the information was sourced and reviewed — not a judgement on the provider.

Quarterly review cycle

We re-review the dataset every quarter. Submissions are reviewed within five business days. Material licence or status changes are applied as we become aware of them.

What's intentionally missing

Domestic-only providers with no cross-border angle, providers without verifiable licence data, and companies under enforcement action that makes partnership unviable.

Open to additions

Listing is editorial and free. Any licensed payment company can request to be added on the Get listed page. We do not accept paid placement.

AML transparency score

Every provider profile shows an AML score from 0–100. It is a transparency and governance signal, not a judgement of actual AML compliance. The score reflects what is publicly observable about how a provider is licensed, governed and disclosed — missing data counts against the score.

DimensionWeightWhat it measures
Regulatory standing30%Active licence, licence age, public enforcement actions in the last five years.
Governance transparency25%Published AML/CTF policy, named MLRO, Wolfsberg CBDDQ, ISO 27001 / SOC 2 / PCI-DSS, UBO disclosure.
Adverse media & enforcement20%Published fines, criminal investigations, AML-relevant breaches, compliance-linked senior departures.
Operational maturity15%Years under current licence, audited financials, industry body membership.
High-risk exposure10% (modifier)Serving gambling, crypto, adult, FX/CFD, MSB or dual-use is neutral by default — it raises the expected governance floor.
Unverified
0–39

Little public data, thin or no governance signals.

Public Data
40–59

Regulated and verifiable from public sources.

Partner Submitted
60–79

Provider has uploaded AML documentation (next phase).

Provider Verified
80–100

Ai Risk Intelligence has reviewed the documentation (next phase).

MVP scores are capped at 59 (top of the Public Data band) because no provider has yet submitted or verified documentation through the platform. Once the upload and review flows ship, providers will be able to claim a listing, submit AML policy documents, Wolfsberg CBDDQ and vendor disclosures, and reach the Partner Submitted and Provider Verified bands.

Frequently asked questions

Why only a curated set of companies per country?

Find Payment Partner is not an exhaustive register. We prioritise providers that hold the relevant licence, are commercially relevant for cross-border or international partnerships, and where verifiable public data exists. We expand coverage continuously based on user demand and provider submissions.

Where does the data come from?

Regulatory registers (EBA EUCLID for EU/EEA payment and e-money institutions including DNB-licensed providers in the Netherlands, FCA register for the United Kingdom, FinCEN MSB and US state regulators for the United States, and national regulators in Germany, the Nordics and China), public company filings, provider-submitted information, and analyst reviews from Ai Risk Intelligence.

How do you verify a provider?

Every profile carries one of four verification levels: Unverified, Public Data, Partner Submitted, and Provider Verified. The level reflects how the information on the profile was sourced and last reviewed.

How often is the data updated?

Curated reviews run on a rolling quarterly cycle. Provider submissions are reviewed and added within five business days. Material licence or status changes are applied as we become aware of them.

What is intentionally not covered?

Domestic-only acquirers without cross-border relevance, providers without a discoverable licence or regulator record, and companies whose primary product is not a payment partnership offering. We also exclude any company on a sanctions list or with an open enforcement action of a kind that makes partnership unviable.

How can a company be added?

Any licensed payment company that believes it should appear can request a listing. Listing is editorial and free. Submit your company on the Get listed page and we will review and respond within five business days.
